It has been a tremendous first full year for Boneyard Studios since the start of our tiny project. Here’s just a little of what we’re proud to have accomplished in 2013:
- Welcomed a total of more than 2,000 visitors to the Boneyard Studios showcase during over a dozen open houses, and more than 600,000 visitors to the Boneyard Studios blog.
- Spread the tiny house mission far and wide through local, national, and international media, including Dwell, Inhabitat, and NPR.
- Received the Washington City Paper’s puzzling “Best Tiny Houses of DC” distinction, for which we were nonetheless thankful.
- Celebrated completion of Minim House, and the Minim team’s honor of receiving two American Institute of Architects awards.
- Saw significant progress and near-completion of the Matchbox: siding, floors, cabinets, a rain catchment system, and more.
- Congratulated Lee for finally finishing the Pera Houses‘s difficult siding project and for getting started on the interior.
- Welcomed the Boneyard’s fourth house, Elaine’s Lusby, to the tiny house showcase back in March.
- Reaped the fruits of the Boneyard Studios garden (and over a dozen new fruit trees) during its prolific first year of harvest, and got to know the Boneyard wildlife a little better.
- Opened the lot (and the tiny homes) to local musicians during a three-part summer concert series.
- Did some travel: me to tour the country in an even tinier fashion, and Lee and Brian to the first national tiny house fair.
- Spent lots of time reflecting on—and being grateful for—the joy of limits, simplicity, and life.
Thanks for a great year of support, everyone—happy 2014!
